Our Two Calypso Water Jets can cut virtually any material with the exception of industrial carbides and safety glass. We regularly cut steel, stainless steel and aluminum in thicknesses up to 3". It is also a great tool for plastics and rubber including PVC, UHMW, DELRIN, LEXAN, URETHANE, and BUNA. Also, reflective metals such as brass, bronze, polished stainless steel and copper can be cut with no problem. The overall capacity of the water jet is 60" X 120" with a normal tolerance of +/- .010". This tolerance can be "Fine Tuned" for features such as hole diameter and slots to an accuracy of +/- .005". Another added benefit of water jet cutting as opposed to laser, plasma, and oxy-acetylene is that there is no thermal input into the part which eliminates distortion and work hardening in the cut areas.

Advantages of Abrasive Water Jet Cutting:

• Cuts a wide range of thickness to reasonable tolerance up to 3" thick.
• Up to 5" or thicker where tolerance is not important, or in soft materials.
• No Heat Generated / No Heat Affected Zones - this is cold cutting.
• No mechanical stresses.
• Cuts virtually any shape.
• Leaves a satin smooth finish, thus reducing secondary operations.
• Clean cutting process without gasses or oils.
• No rough edges, making it easier for a high quality weld.
• Faster than EDM.
• Obtains about the same or higher tolerances than lasers (especially as thickness increases).
